Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons

We do allow cancellations with make up lesson opportunities provided. Cancellations must be approved a minimum of 24 hours prior to the lesson. If the 24 hour cancellation notice is given, we will work with your schedule to provide the make up lesson. We understand that life can get in the way of a scheduled plan, and we want to give students ever opportunity for growth and improvement.

Practice

Students will show the most improvement when they follow their practice instructions for the week.  Whether it’s piano instruction or vocal instruction, students should know that they will need to put work in during the week if they wish to see results. If your lesson time is 30 minutes, then recommended practice time should be a minimum of 30 minutes per day.

For younger students, it’s imperative that parents oversee their children’s practice time and take steps to ensure that the tasks given, which will be reviewed during lesson time, are completed.  This will set your child up for success.

Tuition

Our monthly tuition covers private lessons, recitals, outside competitions (if desired) and basic workshops.

Tuition is due upon the first lesson of the month in full.  Lessons cannot be taught without payment.

Summer programs and additional mentor-ship will be charged separately.

Recitals

Part of becoming a well rounded performer is getting in front of an audience and playing or singing for others. Two recitals are held each year (Spring and Christmas). All school aged students are required to perform.

Your Instrument

As a piano student, we encourage parents to have a quality instrument for their child to practice on at home. To become well rounded pianists, a quality piano is necessary in the development of the hands for touch, and the ears for pitch. A poor quality keyboard will hinder the learning curve. If a child has practiced at home on a small keyboard, and then is asked to play their piece on the Larkspur studio piano, they will struggle due to the unfamiliar feel and movement of real piano keys.

*Please ask us about the best options for purchasing a piano for your home. We can help guide you to an instrument you can afford and enjoy, as well as a reputable piano tuner.

For all other policy questions, please contact Susie, owner of Larkspur Music Studio.
